Description

The lamp standards in George Square, Glasgow, were likely designed by Macfarlane around 1880. There are eight decorative cast-iron lamp standards, each featuring Glasgow's crest and embossed acanthus leaves. The lights above have been converted for electricity and each standard has three arms. The eight standards are arranged in a symmetrical pattern.
