Description

2 Dee Bank Road in Ballater is an earlier 19th-century building that consists of a two-storey former bank manager's house, which is connected by a single-storey passage to a parallel single-storey and attic gabled former savings bank, now functioning as a shop.

The house features pink granite rubble on the south side and painted harl on the east side. The principal elevation has a central four-panelled timber door. The former bank is finished in painted harl with granite margins and has straight skews with skew putts and finial details on the gable. An attic window is flanked by shields.

The house predominantly has four-pane timber sash and case windows, while the bank has large plate glass windows. The roof is covered with grey graded slate, and there are coped gable end stacks.

The interior of the former savings bank has been extensively modernised, and the condition of the interior on Dee Bank Road was not assessed as of November 2005.
