Description
This is an early 19th century, single-storey, three-bay cottage situated within the Cairngorms National Park. The cottage is harled, and features an off-centre door, multi-pane windows, and a small loft light in the south gable. It has end chimneys and a roof covered with graded local slate. The interior is a single, open space with no room partitions. The cottage currently functions as an information bureau and interpretation centre.
Nearby stands the remains of a late 18th to early 19th century lime kiln, constructed of rubble. It is located close to the cottage. Loch an Eilein, including its castle situated on an islet within the loch, is a Scheduled Monument.
