Description
16 Chalton Road is a mid-Victorian detached villa with later additions, designed in a simple Gothic style. It has a two-storey stepped L-plan and is constructed from snecked rubble. The building features straight skews and ball finials. The ground floor bays on the west and west fronts were added in 1906, as indicated by the date on the rainwater head, during the extensive addition of the east wing. This east wing is also two-storey and harled, with a northeast octagonal section topped by a large conical roof that has broad metal-stayed eaves. The villa includes leaded glass windows, with some featuring curved heads, reflecting the style of architect William Leiper.
