Description
44-46 Bloomgate in Lanark is a corner building dating from around 1830, featuring two storeys and an attic. The structure is constructed of ashlar stone, with the ground floor painted. The ground floor includes pilastered shops, and there is an original doorpiece at the curve of the building, although the door is now blocked. The central door leads to 1 Hope Street, with a pilastered shop to the left and one window to the right. On the first floor, there are four windows facing Bloomgate, one on the recessed curve, and a blind architraved window to the left of the Hope Street facade, with two windows to the right and two in the flat-topped gable end. All windows feature lying-pane glazing. A panelled and corniced stack rises through the left side of the gable, and the roof is covered with piended slate.
