Description
54 Bloomgate in Lanark is an early 19th-century building featuring two storeys and an attic, with three windows on the front facade. The exterior is finished in painted stucco with angle margins. It has a central entrance framed by engaged Roman Doric columns. All windows are adorned with moulded architraves and consist of four-pane sashes. The building has an eaves course and cornice, along with two later canted gabled dormers. The roof has straight skews and end stacks, covered with slate.
The elevation facing North Vennel includes a pilastered doorpiece and three windows on the ground floor, with two additional windows on the first floor. At the rear, there is a three-storey stair turret with steps leading to a pilastered doorpiece on the first floor. Above this is a tall window featuring lying pane glazing and margin panes. The rear of the building has modern extensions.
