Victoria Hall, 157-165 Quarry Street, Hamilton

Victoria Hall, located at 157-165 Quarry Street in Hamilton, dates back to 1881. This three-storey, seven-bay commercial building features shops on the ground floor and was originally known as the Jubilee Halls. It later became the Playhouse Cinema and subsequently the Granada Cinema. The exterior is constructed of painted red sandstone ashlar with a slate roof.

The ground floor has modern shopfronts, while the first floor showcases cross-windows. The second floor features bipartite windows, with a prominent tripartite round-headed window at the center that breaks through the eaves, topped by a gable with a coped edge and ball finials. The first floor is finished with channelled ashlar and segmental window heads set within a figured frieze, while the second floor has a panelled design similar to that found at 143-155 Quarry Street above. A dentilled wallhead course with ball finials marks the angles of the building. The outer bays are adorned with three-light canted oriel windows that have round-headed lights and are swept to a square at the finialled gablehead.
