Description
Smyllum House Institute, built in 1883, is located to the east of the original house and is connected to it by a screen wall. The building is two storeys high and consists of seven bays, constructed from rubble with ashlar dressings. The central entrance features a door beneath a pointed arch with a traceried fanlight above, flanked by six windows that include transoms and upper mullions. The first floor also has transomed windows, and the wallhead gable displays gothic tracery above the central window. Each gable end features tripartite windows on both floors. The building has straight skews and is topped with a slate roof.
