Description

The schoolhouse at Hamilton Grammar School, located on Auchincampbell Road, was likely built between 1910 and 1913 by the architectural firm Cullen, Lochhead and Brown. It is a single-storey building with an attic, constructed from stugged snecked rubble and featuring ashlar dressings and raised quoins. The symmetrical southeast front includes a central semicircular dormer with a pediment, along with corniced canted bays positioned diagonally at the corners. There are also corniced bipartite dormers on the end elevations, and the roof is piended and slated. At the rear, there is a lower back wing with an entrance located at the northeast angle, which includes a long flat-roofed range with a door and window facing southwest.
