Hall, St Mary's R.C. Church, St Vincent Place, Lanark

St Mary's Roman Catholic Church hall, located on St Vincent Place in Lanark, was built in 1859 by architects Goldie and Hadfield. This single-storey, three-bay Gothic school features an L-shaped plan and includes a wing added in 1889. The structure is constructed from snecked and stugged rubble, accented with ashlar dressings and quoins. The original west wing has a central projecting porch with a recessed door that has a haunched head under a pointed arch, complete with moulded reveals and nook shafts. The porch is topped with a gabled roof featuring a cross at the apex. On either side of the porch, there are two geometric traceried windows with finialled gable heads, and a similarly styled window is found in the gable end. The 1889 two-bay wing on the south elevation retains similar architectural details. The eastern gable end features simple paired lancets topped with finials. The building is topped with a slate roof that includes later roof lights.
