Stonelaw High School Annexe, Mcallum Avenue, Glasgow

Stonelaw High School Annexe, designed by D MacNaughtan and Son (Alan G MacNaughtan) in 1909, is a two-storey school block featuring Renaissance ornamentation. The building typically has a symmetrical composition along the long axis of its plan, characterized by advanced gables at the north end of both long walls, although the elevations are asymmetrical. Each re-entrant angle has a narrow entrance bay that is slightly set forward, topped with a wall-head parapet and a conical roof. At the south gable, there is a lower two-bay range with a single-storey range adjoining it. The advanced gables feature three-light windows with columned mullions on the first floor. The exterior is constructed from snecked bull-faced red ashlar with polished dressings, deep-eaved slate roofs, and corniced stacks.
