Description
Bower Bar is a building that likely dates from the early 19th century, although it has undergone later alterations. It is a two-storey, three-bay gabled house with its main entrance located at the southwest corner. There are later additions at the rear of the building. The exterior features white-painted render with painted ashlar dressings, including a base course, a deep fascia above the first-floor windows, an eaves course, quoin strips, and raised margins around the windows.
The front door is a two-leaf timber-boarded design, topped with a circular mutulled canopy and a prominent keystone above, which is supported by corbelling that extends out to a square shape at the first floor. The front elevation has three windows at the ground level with projecting cills and two windows on the first floor, along with a central blind window. The building has gablehead stacks.
The first-floor windows are timber sash and case with four-pane glazing, while the ground floor features fixed-pane glazing. The building is topped with an ashlar-coped skew and a coped stack, and it has a roof covered in graded grey slate.
