Description

G P Kennedy and R Dalgleish, 1871-2. Gothic church with tower.

Repaired 1895-8, roof renewed 1910 after mining subsidence. Gabled nave-and-aisles (W) front with square tower right, fronting S aisle. Squared rubble, ashlar dressings. Tower has off-set buttresses, 3 stages, splay-footed tall spire with lucarnes; main door in gable, large geometric-traceried window above, pinnacled buttress at left, above aisle. Tall lancets to flanks; slated roof with triangular ventilators. Galleried interior. Steel tie-bars and plates.
