St Peter's Primary School, Falcon Gardens, Edinburgh

St Peter's Primary School, built in 1909 by Archibald Macpherson, is a two-storey rectangular-plan school located in Falcon Gardens, Edinburgh. The building is constructed from brick and harled, featuring a smooth rendered base and some dressings of pink sandstone.

The northern front elevation is symmetrical, highlighted by a central gable with paired apex stacks and a raised wallhead that includes an inlaid cross. Above the gable, there is a tall bipartite window. The gable is flanked by gabled projections that contain tall windows and small bull's-eye windows in the gablehead, all connected by a single-storey vestibule. The doorways in the outer bays are adorned with a curved ashlar cornice and foliage carving on the keystone, with a sculpted panel above and small windows on either side. A small window is also located below the eaves.

On the southern rear elevation, there is a large shallow projection gabled to the centre, along with a modern single-storey addition that features a louvred ventilator with a pantiled roof.

The western elevation has tall single windows and a corbelled corner to the left. The windows consist of small-pane timber casements and sash and case windows. The roof is bellcast and covered with red interlocking pantiles, which are not original to the building.

Inside, the school is arranged around a double-height central galleried hall.
