Description

The War Memorial on South Beach Esplanade in Troon was sculpted by Walter Gilbert and cast by H.H Martyn & Co. of Cheltenham in 1924. It features a stepped granite square-plan plinth with a Vitruvian-scrolled band beneath the memorial panels. At the top, there is a bronze figure of Liberty facing the sea. The memorial is enclosed by a Vitruvian-scrolled granite wall with a consoled bench that surrounds a terrace at the back.
