6 Academy Street, 1 South Beach, Troon

6 Academy Street and 1 South Beach in Troon is an earlier 19th-century, symmetrical, two-storey, three-bay plain classical house located on a corner site. The building features painted render with raised, painted dressings, a base course, and a lintel course beneath the corniced eaves. It has raised long and short quoins and surrounds to the openings facing South Beach, raised margins to Academy Street, projecting cills, and a pilastered doorpiece.

On the South Beach elevation, there is a part-glazed replacement timber door centered at the ground level, surrounded by a doorpiece that includes flanking pilasters, a plain frieze, a cornice, a block pediment, and a raised keystone. Above, there is a single window aligned at the first floor, with single windows at both floors in the outer left and right bays.

The Academy Street elevation features a boarded timber door at ground level, offset to the left of center, with single windows at both floors in the flanking bays. There is a small single window at the first floor, offset to the right of center, and single windows at both floors in the outer right bay.

The building predominantly has 12-pane timber sash and case glazing, with some replacement glazing on Academy Street and various skylights. The roof is a graded grey slate piended roof with replacement rainwater goods, and it has coped, rendered wallhead stacks with circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1997.
