Description
10 Midton Road in Ayr is a pair of mirrored houses built in the late 19th century. They are two stories tall and consist of four bays, constructed from sandstone. The design features a base course and banded rustication at the ground floor, with a dividing band course. The first-floor windows extend beyond the eaves, creating gablets, and there are moulded ball finials rising from square bases.
The west elevation, which is the entrance side, has central square-headed entrances with glazed timber doors and letterbox fanlights above. Labelmoulds are present over the entrances, and single windows are aligned above on the first floor. The outer window bays are slightly advanced and have aprons.
The north, south, and east elevations were not visible in 1999. The windows of No 10 feature 4-pane timber sash and case designs, while No 12 has 2-pane and modern windows. The roof is covered with grey slate, and there are stone skews, coped gablehead stacks, and polygonal chimney cans. The properties have cast-iron rainwater goods.
The interior was not seen in 1999. The property includes iron gatepiers at No 10 and square-plan gatepiers at No 12. Spear-headed railings separate the two properties, with a low coped wall at No 10 and a higher coped wall at No 12. There are additional gatepiers and a gate providing vehicular access to the right of No 12.
