Description
This building at 32 Midton Road in Ayr is a pair of cottages dating from the mid-19th century. They are single storey with an added attic to No 30 and consist of three bays. The cottages are constructed from coursed sandstone and feature a base course, eaves course, strip quoins, and architraved, square-headed openings.
On the northwest elevation, which serves as the entrance, there are central entrances with glazed timber doors and letterbox fanlights, flanked by single windows. To the right of No 30, there is a bipartite box dormer.
The southwest elevation is gabled and harled, with a window located off-centre to the left in the gablehead. The southeast and northeast elevations were not visible in 1999.
The cottages have lying-pane glazing and a slate roof with a lead ridge, stone skews, gablehead and ridge stacks, and both circular and polygonal cans. The rainwater goods are made of cast iron.
The interiors were not seen in 1999. The property is also defined by square-plan painted gatepiers, spear-headed iron railings that divide the property, and a low coped boundary wall.
