36 Midton Road, Ayr

This building, located at 36 Midton Road in Ayr, is a pair of cottages dating from the mid-19th century. It is a single-storey structure with an added attic to No 34 and features three bays. The exterior is constructed from coursed sandstone and includes a base course, eaves course, strip quoins, and architraved, square-headed openings.

On the northwest elevation, which serves as the entrance, there are central entrances with glazed timber doors and letterbox fanlights, flanked by single windows. To the right of No 34, there is a tripartite canted dormer. The southwest elevation is gabled and has a window that is off-centre to the left in the gablehead.

The northeast and northwest elevations were not observed in 1999. No 34 has lying-pane glazing, while No 36 features replacement timber 12-pane sash and case windows. The roof is slate, with stone skews, gablehead and ridge stacks, and both circular and polygonal cans. The property also has cast-iron rainwater goods.

The interiors were not seen in 1999. The property is complemented by square-plan painted pedestrian gatepiers, spear-headed iron railings that divide the property, and a low coped boundary wall, with a vehicular entrance to the right of No 36.
