Description

  1. 2 houses mirrored elevations. 2-storey and attic, each

3 bays wide, stepped down from centre. Red sandstone rubble,

snecked and squared; vertically droved ashlar dressings.

Slate roofs.

Doors with shouldered lintels, semi-circular fanlights and

hoodmoulds, topped with pediment. Projecting square 3-light

mullion and transom windows with chamfered angles and stops

and with fish-scale slated pentice roof. Diminutive

pedimented panels in 1st floor. Cill course at 1st floor;

central lip in lintels. Segmentally pedimented dormers with

finials. Decorative gutter fixtures: gargoyle gutter head on

party wall. Plain barge boarding; moulded eaves brackets.

Plate glass in sashes of No. 2. Small-pane upper sashes to No

  1. Alterations to No. 2 by Sydney Mitchell and Wilson 1901.
