Description
7-11 Sandgate in Ayr is an early 19th century, three-storey and attic, five-bay tenement building that includes commercial premises on the ground floor. The exterior is finished in painted ashlar and features a base course at No 7, a band course at the shopfront fascia, and cill courses on the first and second floors, along with a cornice and a blocking course. The first-floor windows have cornices, while the second-floor windows have architraved margins.
The northwest entrance elevation has a recessed central entrance with a timber door and a letterbox fanlight. Flanking the entrance are shops, each with central entrances that have two-leaf timber doors and letterbox fanlights, along with shop windows. The first and second floors have regular fenestration, and there are five single piended dormers in the attic.
The building features 12-pane timber sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, stone skews, and gablehead and ridge coped stacks with circular cans. The interior was not seen in 1998.
