The Neuk, 73 Monument Road, Ayr

The Neuk is an early 20th-century detached villa located at 73 Monument Road in Ayr. It is a single storey and attic structure with a near square plan and features a painted harl exterior.

The west elevation, which serves as the entrance, has advanced battered bays on the outer left and right, each containing roundel openings. To the left of the entrance is a timber door located at the re-entrant angle of the outer right bay. The central part of the facade includes a bow window, flanked by two single windows on the left and one single window on the right. At the attic level, there is a 5-light flat-roofed dormer. A recessed wing is situated to the outer right.

The north, south, and east elevations were not seen during the 1999 inspection.

The villa features timber casement windows and a red slate roof, with coped ridge stacks flanking the central dormer and circular chimney cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods are also present.

The interior was not seen in 1999.

The property is enclosed by a low coped boundary wall, with coped gatepiers on the outer left and right. The left gatepier provides a vehicular entrance, while the right is for pedestrian access, featuring a timber gate.
