Description
The Davidson Hospital, located on The Avenue in Girvan, was designed by Watson, Salmond and Gray in 1921. This single-storey hospital features a central three-bay block with an attic and showcases Neo-Georgian architectural details. The building is constructed from snecked and squared rubble, accented with ashlar dressings. The central entrance includes a door framed by simply moulded architraves, topped with a scrolled and broken segmental pediment that encloses a name panel, supported by brackets. The attic features three windows with alternating shaped gable heads, and the building is topped with a piended slate roof. The central block is connected to drum-fronted wings, each with three windows and piended roofs, and there are tall stacks symmetrically placed on the roof. A modern addition has been made to the right of the original structure, blending in with the overall design.
