Description
Southfield, located at 18 The Avenue in Girvan, is an earlier 19th century building featuring two storeys and an attic, with three bays. The exterior is finished in painted roughcast with contrasting margins and red sandstone stacks. A central door is framed by a projecting porch supported by Greek Doric columns and topped with a pediment. The building includes a plinth, angle margins, a band course between the ground and first floor, a cornice, and a parapet. All windows are fitted with 12-pane glazing. There are two gabled dormers and end stacks, and the roof is covered with slate. A modern extension on the left side is considered unsympathetic to the original design.
