Description

Early 19th century. 2-storey over concealed basement, 3-bay symmetrical house with gabled 2-storey wing (Scarfataing) projecting to N at W end. Cement-rendered and lined S elevation and W gable, harl-pointed E gable and N (rear) elevation, droved ashlar dressings. Margined windows.

S (COMMERCIAL STREET) ELEVATION: near-symmetrical, entrance door centred at principal floor, stone steps, 6-panel timber door with 2-pane fanlight above, flanking windows with small basement window in bay to right, regular fenestration at 1st floor. Curved corner to right at ground floor, corbelled out to square above, buttress at corner to left. Cement-rendered and lined end elevation to Scarfataing recessed at left.

W GABLE: flush-panelled door with 2-pane glazed upper at right.

N (REAR) ELEVATION: 3 bays, narrow window centred at 1st floor. Gabled and slated cement-rendered rubble wing advanced at right, modern openings and glazing.

Timber sash and case windows, 12-pane at principal floor, 4-pane at 1st floor. Grey slate roof, stugged and droved sandstone stacks, coped with circular cans. Ashlar skew copes.

SEA WALL: coursed rubble sea wall with high random rubble wall above, bounding N side of garden.
