25-29 Commercial Street, Lerwick

25-29 Commercial Street in Lerwick is a two-storey and attic tenement building dating from around 1800. It has a rectangular plan and features harled walls with droved ashlar margins around the doors and windows, as well as projecting cills.

On the west elevation, there are doors at both the ground and first floors in the center bay, with an additional window at the ground floor and another door at the first floor to the right. The doors are four-panel flush-beaded timber with three-pane fanlights, accessed by a modern steel stair. The left and right bays contain windows, and the second-floor windows are topped with concrete gabled slate-hung dormerheads that break the eaves.

The north elevation has a single window to the right at the first floor. The east elevation is irregularly fenestrated and features two concrete gabled slate-hung dormers breaking the eaves to the left of the center. There is also a modern lean-to porch at the ground level with an L-plan rubble wall adjoining it.

The building has 12-pane timber sash and case windows and a purple-grey slate roof with clay ridge tiles. The chimney stacks are stugged ashlar, topped with circular cans, and have ashlar skew copes.
