Sheep Ring, Reston Auction Mart, Main Street, Reston

The Sheep Ring at Reston Auction Mart is likely an early 20th-century structure, possibly built on the site of an earlier building and incorporating some of its elements. It is a single-storey, octagonal-plan sheep ring with later additions to the south and east. The exterior features boarded timber walls, boarded timber doors, and windows that are irregularly arranged.

Inside, the walls are also boarded timber, and the open timber roof is supported by plain timber columns. Metal fencing surrounds the central ring. There is a square-headed opening leading to a modern addition that serves as a sheep entrance and exit to the south. In the southwest corner, boarded timber walls create an office space. The seating consists of 4-stage, tiered timber benches that line the remaining outer walls. The flooring is predominantly concrete, which is dated to 1926, while the office has a boarded timber floor.

The windows are fitted with fixed 2- and 4-pane glazing, and there are various rooflights throughout the structure. Additionally, louvred, triangular vents are present in alternate facets of the roof, which is covered with grey slate and maintains the octagonal shape.
