Description
The Steading at Drumcarro, dated 1827 at the west wing, is an U-plan agricultural building. It features a cattle court block of later date, which has four parallel roofs that are piended and covered with pantiles, along with slated easing courses in the center of the quadrangle. The structure is built of whitewashed rubble with droved ashlar dressings.
The west wing is divided into two sections; the south section includes a blocked door and five oblong windows located under the eaves facing the court, with a corrugated roof. The north section has five segmentally arched cartsheds, originally six but with the southernmost now blocked, and margined loft openings above that are also blocked. There is a loft door and a forestair at the north gable, topped with a gabled slated roof featuring straight skews.
The north range contains two margined windows and a central door that has been converted into a window in its western half, along with three oblong loft openings above. A loft door in the west gable is accessed by a modern metal stair. The roof is slated and includes rooflights with straight skews. Modern buildings are located to the south and west of the steading.
