Description
The War Memorial at The Ramparts, Abbey Bridge End, Jedburgh, was designed by James B Dunn in 1921. It is situated on sloping ground that descends to the south, from the rampart to the Bow. The memorial is a square cenotaph-like structure made of pink sandstone ashlar, featuring a tapering neck topped with a corniced coping stone. On the north face, there is a laurel collar with a wreath. Each face of the memorial has an inscribed name plaque. It stands on a large octagonal rubble pedestal, which has plaques on the south faces and an ashlar balustrade. Steps lead from the north to the south, encircling the pedestal and accompanied by a retaining rubble wall, ashlar coping, and balustrade.
