Description
Teviot House is a mid to later 18th century, two-storey, three-bay rectangular-plan house located on a hillside in Coldingham. The building is constructed of heavily-pointed rubble sandstone, featuring rubble quoins and rubble relieving arches above the ground floor openings at the front. Some areas have rendered margins, and there are projecting cills in parts.
On the north elevation, which serves as the entrance, there is a part-glazed timber door in the center of the ground floor, with single windows flanking it. The first floor has single windows in all bays.
The west side elevation has a gable end with single windows at both the ground and first floors in the left bay, along with a small attic light offset to the left of center.
The east side elevation also features a gable end with a projecting rubble wall that is offset to the right of center at the ground level. There is a single window in the first floor bay to the right and a small attic light offset to the right of center.
The windows predominantly have four-pane glazing in timber sash and case style. The steeply pitched roof is covered with modern pantiles and has stone-coped skews. Brick-built apex stacks with circular cans complete the roof structure.
The interior was not seen in 1999.
