Description
Broughton Green House is a late 18th century, single-storey, three-bay cottage located on the main street of Broughton Village. It has a symmetrical L-plan design and is constructed from squared coursed whinstone rubble, featuring red sandstone quoins and margins. The rear elevation is painted and rendered, with later openings that have brick margins.
The entrance boasts a half-glazed bi-fold timber door, and the windows are timber sash and case with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The cottage is topped with small grey graded slate roofs and has a corniced ashlar stack with octagonal clay cans.
Inside, the cottage retains a rare interior plan layout with small rooms and thick internal walls. It features four-panelled timber doors and timber panelled shutters.
