Broughton Green House, Broughton

Broughton Green House is an early 19th-century building that underwent alterations in the late 19th century. This former farmhouse and inn is a two-storey, three-bay structure with a symmetrical rectangular plan. It features a lower two-bay section to the north with a separate entrance doorway, and it is prominently located at the end of a row of cottages in the centre of the village. The house has piended-roofed eaves with breaking dormers and a simple classical hoodmould above the main entrance, which includes a four-panelled timber bi-fold door with a pen light above. The exterior is finished in painted render with smooth painted surrounds, and there is a small flat-roofed addition at the rear, which also has two round-arched windows.

The windows are six-over-two pane timber sash and case, and there are timber panelled doors throughout. The roof is covered with small grey slates and features small rooflights, along with broad rendered gable stacks topped with octagonal clay cans. The building predominantly uses cast iron for its rainwater goods.

Inside, there have been alterations to the original entrance layout, and a staircase added in 1954 features wrought iron balusters. The first-floor drawing room has a decorative cornice, and there are six-panel doors and a service bell panel present.
