Description

  1. 2-storey 3-bay house. Whinstone with cream sandstone dressings; heavily stugged long and short quoins and tabbed margins. Stop-chamfered arrises.

W ELEVATION: panelled door at centre with plate glass letterbox fanlight; lintel carved with RATHO COTTAGE and guilloche moulding; panelled datestone 1886 above with terracotta heads in corners and rope moulding; flanked by windows at ground with decorative carved lintels. Windows hard under eaves to all bays at 1st floor.

Blank gable ends, later door at ground to N.

Timber 4-pane sash and case windows (plate glass lower sashes at 1st floor). Grey slates; ashlar coped skews with gablet skewputts; corniced whinstone apex stacks with sandstone dressings; some octagonal cans.

BOUNDARY WALL: low rubble wall to front with saddleback ashlar coping and later railings.
