40 New Sneddon Street, Paisley

40 New Sneddon Street in Paisley is a later 18th century, two-storey house with a basement and five symmetrical bays. The front and rear are made of ashlar stone, while the sides are constructed from rubble. The three central front bays are slightly advanced, and there is a band course above the basement. The entrance features a pedimented doorpiece that is accessed by steps, flanked by Corinthian half-columns. The windows are architraved with bracketed sills and corniced on the ground floor. The house has a dentilled eaves cornice and parapets above the central three bays, with pedestals for urns still in place. The rear elevation has been altered and consists of three bays, with angle pilasters and a band course over the basement. The central door is corniced and flanked by corniced tripartite windows. The eaves cornice, pediment, and parapets have been simplified. The house features straight skews and cornice end stacks, along with spearhead railings leading to the steps and front entrance.
