Description
North Muirdykes is an earlier 19th century single storey and attic farmhouse with three bays, featuring some mid 19th century alterations. It forms the west range of an earlier 19th century steading. The house is constructed of painted, roughly coursed whinstone with ashlar dressings and long and short quoins. It has a central door with a fanlight and a pilastered doorpiece, along with four-pane sash windows. The eaves have a cornice, and there are two piended dormers and end stacks. There are linking doors to wings at angles; the south wing is made of painted rubble with margins and has two doors, one of which was originally a cart bay. The north wing is roughly coursed whinstone with ashlar margins and features a single door. The roofs are slate throughout, with piended roofs over the wings. The property is set behind square gatepiers with cast-iron railings.
