Description
The Inn on Main Street in Howwood is an early 19th-century hotel that was renovated in 1966. It is a two-storey building with an attic and features three bays, along with slightly recessed single-storey wings that have pediments. The exterior is made of painted rubble with margins. A central pilastered doorpiece is present, along with an inn sign above that is supported by a wrought-iron bracket. The windows have a 15-pane glazing pattern, with sash windows on the first floor. There is an eaves course, and the building has two piended, canted dormers, end stacks, and a slate roof. The flanking wings have altered glazing, and the pedimented gables are topped with finials. The south wing has a blocked door, while there is an additional door in the north wing. The roofs of the wings are also slate.
