Description

Elliston Farmhouse is an early to mid 19th century single-storey and attic farmhouse featuring three bays, with lower flanking wings that form a U-plan. To the west, there is a later 19th century open-sided Dutch barn. The farmhouse has a prominent central bay with a pediment. The exterior is harled with raised ashlar dressings, while the rear and wings are finished in lime-wash rubble. A cornice runs along the top.

The principal elevation faces north and includes a central pedimented bay with a corniced, pilastered doorpiece, flanked by Venetian windows. There are also a pair of piended, canted dormers. The windows are predominantly plate glass timber sash and case with horns. The roof is covered in grey slates with raised skews and features corniced gable stacks.

Inside, as seen in 2010, there is some decorative cornicing, and the original room plan is largely intact. The eastern wing has small round ventilation openings, rooflights, ridge ventilation openings, and sliding slatted timber doors. There are additional single-storey farm buildings nearby, some of which have timber doors.

The Dutch barn to the west is a four-bay structure with open sides to the north and south, and coursed rubble walls to the east and west. It is supported by metal columns and has a piended open timber roof covered in grey slates.
