Description
The Embroidery Mill at Anchor Mills in Paisley dates from around 1840 and features later additions. It is a three-storey factory built in an L-plan, measuring 12 bays by 21. The exterior is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar margins. Most windows retain their original 30-pane glazing, with the exception of those on the south elevation, and the top halves of these windows tilt open. The roof is slate-covered and gabled, with stacks present. There is a partially ruined extra flat-roofed storey on part of the east elevation. Brick stair towers have been added at the re-entrant angle and the northeast corner, both topped with piended slate roofs. Inside, the timber floors are supported by single rows of cast iron columns.
