Altamount Lodge, Couper Angus Road, Blairgowrie

Altamount Lodge, dated 1866, is a single storey and attic gate lodge with baronial details, located on Couper Angus Road in Blairgowrie. The building features squared and snecked rubble with stugged ashlar dressings and an eaves course. It has a round-arched doorway and shaped windowheads on the gables.

On the southeast elevation, there is an advanced gabled bay to the left of center with single windows on the ground and in the gablehead. A pyramidally-roofed porch is located in the re-entrant angle to the right, featuring a moulded round-headed doorway and a decorative hoodmould. This hoodmould incorporates a segmentally-arched, finialled pediment above the eaves, which displays the date '1866' and a monogrammed 'GRB' surmounted by a crest. A single window is found in the set-back bay to the right.

The northeast elevation features a gabled design with a window on the ground and in the gablehead, while a taller extension is set back to the right. The southwest elevation has a gabled bay to the right of center with two windows at the ground level and a small window in the gablehead. The northwest (rear) elevation shows a variety of elements, including a catslide roof to the right and an advanced gabled extension to the left.

The lodge has modern glazing throughout, a coped ashlar ridge stack, stepped ashlar-coped skews with moulded skewputts, and stone-finialled gableheads.
