Description

Late 18th century with later work. Pair of single and 2-storey with attic, 3-bay classical houses with pavilion porches in mirrored pair. Painted ashlar with raised margins and quoin strips. Base and mutuled eaves courses. Pilastered and pedimented doorcases.

N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: bays to right of centre (Nos 77 and 79) with 4-panelled timber door to left at ground and windows in flanking bays at each floor, similar door with 2-part fanlight in single storey porch to outer right with small window beyond and finely-decorated stack at outer angle. Bays to left of centre (Nos 81 and 83) mirror the above but with modern doors, 2 out-of-character dormer windows and lacking stack to outer angle.

W (NOS 77 AND 79) ELEVATION: full-width single storey bay with 3 windows.

4-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows to Nos 77 and 79; modern glazing to Nos 81 and 83. Grey slates, modern fibrous tiles to single storey bay at No 77; traditional rooflight to No 79. Coped harled and brick stacks with polygonal cans. Ashlar-coped skews with decorative skewputts; cross detail to skewputts at east end of Nos 89 and 91.

INTERIOR: nos 77 & 79 with some simple cornicing to interior and room layout largely unaltered. Later interior to No 83.
