Description

Walton Lodge is a mid to later 19th century, two-storey, three-bay house designed in an L-plan with steeply gabled roofs and pierced bargeboarding. The exterior is constructed from coursed squared rubble, featuring stugged and droved dressings, a base course, and a roll-moulded doorpiece. The windows are made of timber with transoms and mullions, and the edges have stop-chamfered arrises.

On the south elevation, there is a broad advanced gable to the left of the center, which includes bipartite windows on both floors. To the right, a low gabled porch is angled to the southeast, featuring a broad two-leaf timber door and a small transomed bipartite window in the gablehead. There is a window to the right of the porch and two additional windows above that break the eaves into dormerheads.

The east elevation has a gabled bay to the left with a window on each floor, an altered window in the center, and another window to the right at ground level, with two dormer-headed windows above.

The north elevation, which is the rear, has a stepped design with various elements, including a projecting gable to the left with a single-storey extension at ground level and lean-to bays in the center and right.

The windows throughout the house feature 4-pane, 6-pane, and plate glass glazing patterns in timber sash and case, as well as top-opening windows. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and there are coped ashlar gablehead stacks with a full complement of polygonal cans, along with a shouldered ashlar stack. The eaves are overhanging and decorated with both decorative and plain bargeboarding.

The property is enclosed by low coped rubble boundary walls, which include inset decorative cast-iron railings and a gate.
