Description

Scoonie Manse is a late 19th to early 20th century, two-storey, three-bay house designed in an L-plan. It features a polygonal 'tower' bay and decorative timber-pedimented dormer windows. The exterior is constructed from stugged ashlar and squared rubble, with a first-floor cill course, chamfered arrises, and stone mullions.

On the southeast (principal) elevation, the dominant projecting polygonal bay is located to the right of centre and contains three windows on each floor. The dormer windowheads are bracketed and finialled, leading to a polygonal roof topped with a decorative cast-iron finial. A tall wallhead stack is positioned on the return to the left. There is a slated timber porch featuring an 8-light transomed and mullioned canted shouldered window in the re-entrant angle at the centre, with a panelled timber door on the return to the left and a part-glazed screen door behind. A small bipartite window is located on the first floor, along with further windows in the bay to the left, including a pedimented window on the first floor.

The northwest (rear) elevation includes a bay to the left of centre with a lower projecting piended wing that has a small window, door, and flat-roofed dormer window on the return to the right. There is a small window in the centre bay at ground level and a bipartite stair window above, along with a French window to the right and another window close to the eaves on the first floor.

The windows are timber sash and case with a 4-pane glazing pattern, and the stair window features a coloured margin. The roof is covered with grey slates, and the building has coped ashlar and brick stacks with cans. It also has plain bargeboarding and overhanging eaves, along with decorative cast-iron finials and downpipes that include decorative rainwater hoppers and fixings.

Inside, the property features plain cornices, panelled timber doors and shutters, and a timber balustered dog-leg staircase, with the balusters encased in hardboard.

The boundary walls are made of coped rubble.
