Description

Wardheads is a late 18th to early 19th century, two-storey, four-bay house with a T-plan and a later addition. The exterior is harled with painted margins and features stone mullions.

On the southeast (principal) elevation, there are three symmetrical bays on the left, with a stone porch at the center that has a pitch roof and a finial. The flanking bays contain windows, with the right bay featuring a full-width later conservatory or garden room. The first floor has regular fenestration with finialled pediments that break the eaves. To the outer right, there is an advanced gable (added later) with a four-part window at the ground level and a tripartite window above on the first floor.

The northwest (rear) elevation has an advanced gable on the left with an arrowslit at the ground level. To the outer right, there is a window above, and a door on the return to the right with a stone canopy, along with a window on each floor to the return on the left. A recessed bay to the right has a window to the left on the first floor, above a lean-to bay with a part-blocked window.

On the northeast elevation, there is a single window to the right at ground level and two windows on the first floor, with a shouldered wallhead stack at the center.

The southwest elevation features a gabled design with a multi-pane glazed door to the left at ground level. The windows throughout have 12-pane and plate glass glazing patterns in timber sash and case frames. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped harled stacks with some cans. The eaves are overhanging, with timber-braced gableheads on the southeast and southwest elevations.
