Description
Banks is an earlier to mid-19th century, two-storey, three-bay rectangular-plan house that is nearly symmetrical, featuring a lean-to projection at the rear that spans the bays on the right. The exterior is harled, with first-floor windows positioned close to the eaves.
On the south (principal) elevation, there is a boarded door offset to the left of centre at ground level, with a centrally located window above it on the first floor. Each bay has a window on both floors flanking the door.
The north (rear) elevation includes a small window, offset to the left of centre, in the lean-to projection that spans the bays to the right. There is a boarded door on the left return and a centrally located window with another window to the right on the first floor above. A later small lean-to with a corrugated-iron roof is present on the outer left.
On the east (side) elevation, there is a window at each floor, offset to the right of centre, with a gablehead stack above. The windows are predominantly four-pane timber sash and case, with many boarded. The roof is tiled with graded stone tone tiles, featuring a stone ridge, harled and coped gablehead stacks, and cast-iron rainwater goods.
The interior was not seen in 1997.
Additionally, there is a single-storey, three-bay rectangular-plan outbuilding made of squared rubble located to the rear (north) of the main house. The south (main) elevation has a timber door in the centre bay and a boarded window in each of the flanking bays. There are two-leaf sliding doors on the east gable, with a corrugated-iron roof and concrete skews.
