Railway Station And Signal Box, Errol

The Railway Station and Signal Box in Errol, built in 1877 for the Caledonian Railway Company, is a Type 1 signal box. It has a square plan and consists of two stages, constructed from brick with a slated piend roof. The upper stage features full-width, four-bay timber glazing that extends to the side elevations and is supported by a deep bracketed cill-shelf. There is a segmental-headed window on the northeast elevation, accompanied by a jettied timber outshot addition to the right. A timber door is located on the southwest elevation, leading to a timber stair that connects to a projecting timber porch. Additionally, there is a jettied timber projection on the northwest side.

The timber-framed windows have a 9-pane glazing pattern, and the building is topped with a slate roof and cast-iron rainwater goods. Inside, there is a 20 lever locking frame dating from 1911.
