Description
Ardyne is a single-storey, three-bay estate cottage dated 1886, located on a corner site along High Street in Errol. The building features stugged squared and snecked rubble with ashlar margins and quoins, and has basket-arched openings. The edges of the stonework are chamfered, and it includes stone transoms and mullions.
On the north elevation facing High Street, the central bay has a panelled timber door with a plate glass fanlight above it. The bay to the right features a triangular-plan four-light transomed window with a slated roof that breaks the eaves into a dormer head topped with a finial. The bay to the left has a four-light transomed bipartite window situated below a carved datestone displaying the monogram 'WOD', with a dormer head similar to the right bay.
The south elevation presents a gabled front with various elements, including two small piended outshots. The windows are timber sash and case style with a horizontal three-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks with cans. The eaves are deeply overhanging, featuring plain bargeboarding and braces, along with decorative cast-iron finials.
Surrounding the property are low saddleback-coped boundary walls, complemented by a decorative ironwork gate and finialled posts.
