Description

The Highland Gift Shop, located at 11-13 Bridgend in Aberfeldy, dates from the late 19th century. This two-storey and attic building features a two-bay shop with residential dwellings above, set within an irregular terrace to the east. It is constructed from squared chlorite-slate rubble with stugged ashlar dressings, and includes hoodmoulds and stone mullions.

The north elevation, which is the principal facade, is symmetrical and has an M-gabled roof. On the ground floor, the right bay contains a traditional shop entrance with an in-canted, part-glazed double door at the center, flanked by cast-iron colonettes and fixed display windows. To the left, there is another display window with a colonette and an in-canted door, all beneath a corniced fascia. The first floor features two tripartite windows, while the gableheads have smaller bipartite windows.

The west elevation presents a gabled facade with a panelled timber door to the outer right on the ground floor, accompanied by a window to the left and a fixed display window to the outer left. The first floor has two windows, with a small window located in the center of the gablehead.

The south elevation is asymmetrically fenestrated, showcasing a full-height catslide-roofed bay to the outer right and two original dormer windows above. The building features 4-pane and plate glass glazing patterns in timber sash and case windows, with grey slates on the roof. Coped ashlar stacks with cans are present, along with overhanging eaves that have plain bargeboarding.

The boundary walls are low rubble with inset railings.
