West Lodge, Megginch Castle

West Lodge at Megginch Castle dates from around 1800 and is a single-storey lodge house with an attic, featuring three bays. The building is constructed from snecked rubble with squared rubble quoins that are alternately raised, and it has some ashlar margins. The windows have timber mullions.

On the northeast elevation, there is a panelled timber door in the center bay, a canted oriel window to the left, and a blank bay to the right. The southwest elevation is semi-derelict, with a few small square openings and paired diamond-aligned stacks located to the left of center. The northwest elevation includes a small square window in the left bay.

The lodge retains some leaded diamond-pattern glazing in its timber sash and case and casement windows. The roof is covered with some grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks and overhanging eaves.

The gatepiers consist of dome-finialled circular ashlar structures with ironwork gates.
