6 Hillside Road, Stromness

This is a later 19th century, two-storey, three-bay house located at 6 Hillside Road in Stromness. It has a nearly square plan and is constructed of harl-pointed rubble with painted cement-rendered dressings. The principal elevation, facing east, features a recessed central bay that includes an architraved timber door and a rectangular fanlight above it. The two flanking bays are gabled and each has a canted three-light window topped with a piended slate roof, along with a single window above. The gables are adorned with bargeboards and spike-finial pendants. The north, south, and west elevations also have twin gables.

The windows are timber sash and case, arranged in a 12-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slate, and the rainwater goods are made of cast iron. The interior was not accessible for viewing in 1997.

To the east, there are rubble boundary walls that include decorative wrought-iron gates and railings.
