Muckle Rysa Farmhouse, Walls, Hoy

Muckle Rysa Farmhouse is an early 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay farmhouse that is rendered.

The east elevation features a central door painted navy blue, with windows on either side, and three first-floor windows centered above. On the northeast elevation, there is a ground floor window to the left and a first-floor window to the right, along with a lean-to porch at the far right. The west elevation has narrow, central windows on both the ground and first floors. The south elevation includes a ground and first floor window to the right, a lean-to porch set back to the left, a door to the right, and a window to the left.

The doors are timber boarded, and the east door has a narrow rectangular fanlight above it. The windows are predominantly 8-pane timber sash and case, with one remaining 12-pane window. The roof is pitched and covered with stone slates from Caithness, featuring crowstepped gables and coped gable end stacks. There is a modern slated roof on the lean-to porch.

The interior was not seen in 2000.

A rubble flag wall encloses a small garden to the east, with plain, square-plan gatepiers also located to the east.
